Antique Puppet Statue - Antique Burmese Style Painted Wood Puppet Head - 49cm/20"
Measures (Height) 49cm/20"
An antique Burmese puppet head mounted on a wood block (later).
Pulling the red cord at the top of the head has the puppet stick their tongue out. A charming and amusing sculpture.
Here the sculptor has imparted a touching sense of youthful tenderness. The puppet has a peaceful countenance with downcast introspective eyes and firm brows. The carving is beautiful as you can see in the fine details of the face. Each detail is rendered perfectly.
What appears to be mostly the original mechanism can be seen to the rear of the piece.
