  • Antique Thai Style Bronze Standing 4-Arm Ganesha Statue - 20cm/8"

    Measures (Height) 20cm/8"

An expressively cast antique Thai‑style bronze four‑armed Ganesha, seated upon a circular lotus‑leaf plinth.

The elephant‑headed god sits in a relaxed yet dignified posture, his rounded belly and firmly planted legs conveying both abundance and grounded stability. The lotus base, with its layered petals circling the plinth, symbolises purity, compassion and the joy that arises from spiritual awakening—an especially apt foundation for Ganesha, remover of obstacles and lord of auspicious beginnings.

He wears a short, richly patterned dhoti with crossed cloth gathered around his portly waist, the detailed textile work adding texture and depth to the piece. A tall, ornate Thai crown frames his distinctive head, with alert eyes and gently curved trunk giving the figure warmth and personality. The bronze has developed a wonderfully variegated patina, with soft greens and browns playing across the surface, enhancing the sense of age and quiet power.

In his four hands Ganesha holds a trident, a noose, sweetmeats and his broken tusk—each attribute layered with meaning. The noose (pasha) represents the ability to draw in and restrain negative or wayward thoughts and desires, while the goad implied by the trident’s shaft symbolises gentle guidance, much as a mahout steers an elephant along the right path. The trident (trishula), more commonly associated with Shiva, connects Ganesha to his father and signifies the cutting away of ignorance and the harmonising of key triads in Hindu thought—such as creation, preservation and destruction, or body, mind and soul. In Ganesha’s grasp it becomes a sign of his power to remove obstacles in both the material and spiritual realms, leading devotees toward wisdom and enlightenment. The broken tusk recalls his willingness to sacrifice for knowledge and story, famously used to write the Mahabharata.

Ganesha’s trunk turns gently to his left, a direction traditionally associated with worldly success and harmonious domestic life—ideal for grihasthas, or householders, seeking prosperity balanced with peace. In early Indian contexts he was closely linked with fertility and the flourishing of life; over time he became universally revered as the Remover of Obstacles, Lord of Beginnings, patron of arts and sciences, and deity of intellect and wisdom. The lively modelling of this Thai‑style bronze also hints at Ganesha’s joy in music and beauty, echoing the celebratory spirit often seen in his depictions.

One of the most recognisable of all Asian deities, this finely detailed, timeworn Ganesha offers a potent blend of symbolism and charm. Placed on an altar, desk or console, it will bring a sense of protection, good fortune and endlessly timeless style to any home, office or sacred space.

Let Us Help You Find The Piece You Desire

The package arrived today -- very well packed and the statues are very good. I have spent over 30 years in Asia -- quite a bit of that in Thailand and a little in Cambodia and Laos. It has been difficult to find reproductions of this quality and I salute you for your effort and your success.

Michael, Brentwood, MO, USA

The statue has arrived. It is in a very nice position in our main entrance area and looks wonderful;-). Thank you again and best regards.

Yvonne, Malta

Many, many thanks. The Buddha is just perfect! I couldn't be any happier with his countenance, posture and the workmanship. And the little Manjusri is wonderful! I was not familiar with the symbolism of this figure--it is very intriguing.
