Antique Khmer Style Bronze Brahma - Hindu God Creation - 15cm/6"
Measurements - H15cm (6")
A delightful 12th‑century Angkor Wat style seated Brahma from Cambodia.
Brahma, the Hindu god of creation and one of the Trimurti alongside Vishnu and Shiva, is shown here in serene meditation, radiating balance and authority. He is seated in panhandle posture, with eight finely modelled arms holding his traditional attributes: mirror, sceptre, conch shell, mala beads, sacred sutra and kalasha, each a reminder of his creative power and spiritual sovereignty.
Particularly striking is the kalasha, the ritual water vessel regarded in the Vedas as an “overflowing full vase” and a potent symbol of abundance and the very source of life. It is believed to contain amrita, the elixir of immortality, and thus embodies plenitude, wisdom and enduring vitality.
True to Angkorian tradition, Brahma is depicted with four calm, composed faces looking north, south, east and west, suggesting his all‑encompassing vision and guardianship of the entire cosmos. He is seated upon a lotus‑leaf pedestal, richly decorated and crisply cast.
The lotus itself is one of the most resonant symbols in Indian and Southeast Asian art. Rising pristine from muddy waters, it represents spiritual awakening, purity and the fulfilment that comes from transcending worldly attachment. Appearing here as Brahma’s seat, it suggests that true creativity and insight are rooted in inner clarity rather than material concerns.
The quality of the casting is lovely: you can see it in the delicate treatment of the faces, the elegant hands and the intricate jewellery and textiles. Every detail is sharply rendered yet harmonious, capturing both the monumentality of Angkor Wat sculpture and an intimate, devotional presence.
Traditional in appearance yet timeless in appeal, this Brahma will bring an atmosphere of serenity, refinement and quiet power to any setting—whether displayed in a living room, study, office or dedicated sacred space.

My partner got back from Thailand this evening, and was surprised and delighted to see the walking Buddha statue I bought from you recently. We both like it very much indeed - you don't see so many walking Buddha statues, and this one is very well moulded and finely detailed. You also packed it very thoroughly for posting. So thank you very much! It looks very beautiful in our hall, facing visitors as they come through our front door.
