An antique Thai-style standing Dvaravati Teaching Buddha, poised upon a lotus petal pedestal. Graceful and serene, this figure beautifully captures the contemplative elegance of early Thai Buddhist art.
The Buddha’s expression is calm and introspective, with gently downcast eyes and a firm, composed brow that convey deep inner peace. A large ushnisha rises prominently from the crown of his head, symbolising his advanced spiritual attainment and enlightenment. His elongated earlobes recall his princely youth, when he wore heavy gold earrings before renouncing worldly life.
He stands with his hands held before his chest in the dharmachakra mudra, the “Wheel of Dharma” gesture. This mudra commemorates one of the most important moments in the Buddha’s life: his first sermon at the Deer Park in Sarnath, where he set in motion the Wheel of Teaching after his enlightenment. The thumb and index finger touch to form a circle, representing the Wheel of Dharma and, in metaphysical terms, the union of method and wisdom.
The casting is beautifully executed, evident in the refined details of the face, hands, and robes. A distinctive, softly aged patina enhances the depth and character of the bronze, lending it a sense of history and authenticity.

Large and/or fragile pieces requiring palletising, specialist crating and/or extra packaging may take a little longer. Palletised shipments will be delivered curbside.
