Rising from the ground, Thorani wrung from her long black hair the pure waters of merit, unleashing a flood that swept away Mara and his army of demons. This mudra thus embodies steadfastness, victory over ignorance, and the Buddha’s awakening to Nirvana.
The drapery of his monk’s robe is elegantly rendered, its folds adorned with what appears to be Sanskrit inscriptions, possibly invoking blessings or sacred verses. The overall design reflects both devotional reverence and artistic refinement, characteristic of Southeast Asian Buddhist artistry.
