Dieser Stil entspricht der ersten Hälfte des neunten Jahrhunderts und der Regierungszeit von Jayavarman II. Es markiert auch einen Wendepunkt in der Evolution der künstlerischen Bildsprache und bereitet sich auf die Transformation hin zu klassischer Angkoriankunst vor.
